How to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in 8 languages

“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his #heart.” Nelson Mandela

Last year around this time I wrote an article for my blog called “How to wish merry Christmas in any language”

I gave a few tips on how to express feelings in another language, because, ya know, Christmas is the time when we share more love and appreciation for each other, right? 😀

Expressing feelings in your second language can be a bit tricky, but here’s the deal…

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. If you don’t know how to say something in another language that is heartfelt and emotional, you can research a text, a poem or a song in that language that talks about what you’re trying to say and borrow its words. I give an example about this strategy in this article.

But if you’d like to know how to wish merry Christmas and happy new year in the language you’re learning, watch the special episode of Ermy’s Q&A show below

In this Christmas episode, I go around Chester asking people how to say merry Christmas and Happy New Year in their native language. This is my way to wish you a super Christmas and a fantastic New year in 8 languages.
