La cosa più bella che ti sia mai capitata

Last Saturday we had a wrap night at a friend’s house.

In between making wraps, eating and chatting, I felt asking this question

What’s the best thing has ever happened to you?

My friend Mymy immediately said “my mum”. I found that so sweet — and I know her mum is pretty cool.

Matthew said “my cat”. Of course! And She had just recovered from a pretty bad illness.

Finally, Dan said “learning another language”.

And I didn’t expect to have that! So I asked, Really? Why?

“Because if I hadn’t done that, I wouldn’t have met you guys!”

There was a moment of silence.

Everyone was flattered by that answer, and yet…we knew he was telling the truth.

The beauty of learning another language is that it gives you so many important things. And friendship is one of them.

Because it is through learning a language that we’re able to discover a new world and connect with the people in it.

And it is this very reason that drives me to learn and teach languages.

And it is this the best reason to learn another language –including Italian.
