“Before working with Ermy, I was of living a life of restrictions dictated by my fear of speaking in Italian. I would let my Italian husband take over all the conversations in social engagements and I was speaking to him only in English ’cause I was too ashamed of my Italian! I couldn’t even speak to my Italian clients and I wouldn’t pick up the phone if they called me (I felt too embarrassed of my Italian).
After just a month of working with Ermy, I started to feel much more confident in using my Italian. I started to have conversations with my husband and also my in laws…
I even had a chat with my son’s teachers the other day and she complimented me for my Italian! And I now feel able to improve on my own, because I’m more confident in speaking to people, so I’ll get more practice.

“I had my first conversation in Italian after a few weeks working together!”
I’d always wanted to learn Italian so I started on a language app – which provided a good start in terms of vocabulary but it wasn’t teaching me anything about the structure or how to hold a conversation. It was also not teaching me vocabulary which was likely to be any use to me in practice. So I wanted to either find group classes or a coach, and I found Ermy.
Since working with Ermy, I have learned about the context and structure of the language, learned relevant vocabulary for travelling in Italy and how to have conversations. Ermy is highly skilled, professional and approachable. I have weekly tasks to prepare including comprehensions, listening tasks and grammar. Thanks to the exercises Ermy’s provided, my comprehension of spoken dialogue has improved greatly. Also, the sessions we have together are always well structured and productive. I can ask any question and Ermy can always provide clear explanations without needing to prepare. We always have fun too – and Ermy is as delighted as I am when I make progress!
